Owning and Securing Wi-Fi: Cyber Secure Asia and Digicert lead the way

Legitimate and authentic Internet security is an important aspect in every business or web space where trust is a pre-requisite to every transaction. Clients and customers scattered in the internet medium are more vigilant in taking and accepting offers and business deals in the internet sphere as it can also easily be accessed by hackers and cyber criminals as anyone who has internet access do.

Aside from the SSL certificates offered by the company and by Digicert, there also other services that can help an internet user build cyber protection as he is connected to an access point.

Cyber Secure Asia and Digicert builds a strong firewall and WIFI or internet security which are authenticated by a Certificate authority. It is even stated that, “Currently, there are only 3 CAs authorized, one of which is DigiCert. The service provider will need to go through a validation process to identify themselves as a legitimate provider and once validated, a certificate will be issued.”

A logo is the indicator that a Wifi Hotspot is secured and authenticated not just by the person himself but by a third party who are professionally skilled in providing such security service.

Cyber Secure Asia and Digicert provided an example for a clearer illustration of how the services work.

“Let’s say Jane is at a cafe and is trying to access WiFi Hotspot from her mobile device, a list of available service providers will be made available to her. Jane’s device will automatically check through every service providers’ OSU server for a certificate and will then check on the validity of the certificates. For authenticated providers, a logo and/or a friendly name will appear next to their names to indicate that the server is trusted by a third-party.”

These are all the works of the Secure Wi-Fi Certificate. The name and logo confirms the security which can be seen by anyone who tries to access another’s web presence and connection. Thus, a medium to determine whether the certificate is genuine or not.

“Knowing which providers are safe to use, Jane can select one with confidence. Choosing a provider that displays the logo and/or a friendly name will start a session that is fully encrypted protecting all her login details and payment information as it passes through to the OSU server.”

Upon completing the sign up process, the customer or user can now surf the net as its usual access point.
