Pregnancy Crisis Service (PCS) is a support service in Singapore under Family Life Society which is a 24/7 and 365 days helpline that supports anyone who may be facing an unwanted, suspected or unexpected pregnancy. PCS provides assistance to expectant mothers through a wide array of essential services.
The support service consists of a team of dedicated and experienced volunteers who have helped many women from world over for more than 25 years since 1985. The volunteers are committed to journey with women through their difficulties in a non-judgemental way regardless of their race, religion or nationality. Most importantly, the volunteers highly value the privacy of women who may be facing this crisis during their pregnancy stage – their identity, as well as all the information they share will be kept strictly confidential. Women who are unsure if they are pregnant can also reach PCS through their contact numbers to make an appointment for a pregnancy test and ultrasound scan.
PCS has a grasp of how overwhelming an unplanned pregnancy or suspecting of an unplanned pregnancy can be. There may be the feeling of being, worried, alone, guilty and having a sense of shame and more. That is why PCS would like to let women who are undergoing such circumstances, know that there are people who will support them in such crisis situation.
The support service offer several services as of follow:
Counselling Service – PCS has a group of trained counsellors to listen to you and support women in this time of crisis. They will bring women through a process that enables them to gain a clearer perspective of their situation in order to make a wise and informed decision.
Free Pregnancy test Collaboration with medical professionals – PCS had worked closely with some medical doctors who can provide medical consultation for women if necessary but this does not include any treatment or surgical procedure.
Parental intervention – PCS can help women who got engaged in unexpected pregnancy to break the pregnancy news to their parents.
Basic financial planning and referral for financial assistance – PCS can assist women who are having financial constrain.
Pre-marital Counselling – PCS can help women who are considering marriage to decide whether they should and be prepared for it.
Collaboration with schools – PCS can help women who are currently students to discuss a feasible plan with their school so that their studies will be as little affected as possible.
Collaboration with Shelter Homes – PCS can assist women who are in need of a safe place to stay during your pregnancy.
Collaboration with adoption agencies – PCS can facilitate women who consider letting their baby be cared and loved by suitable pair of parents.
Collaboration with legal advisers – PCS can assist women who have any legal queries, to seek some legal advises from our legal advisers though this does not include representing and acting for you legally.
Collaboration with other counselling agencies – PCS can refer women for personal, couple and family counseling if necessary.
People at Pregnancy Crisis Service are working hand in hand to promote giving life to unborn baby a chance by being of help to women who are undergoing crisis in this stage of their lives. Moreover, the support service is recruiting for new volunteers who can relate to women with unplanned pregnancies. This is a call for volunteer who can heed and dedicate one day of their week to help manage the hotline or volunteer with their unique skill sets.
